When to visit your doctor during your pregnancy

Bleeding
While it is often harmless, bleeding during pregnancy must always be taken seriously. During the first trimester, it can indicate an ectopic pregnancy or the beginning of a miscarriage, and in the second or third trimester, there is a risk of premature birth and detachment of the placenta. Your doctor can identify the cause of the bleeding by doing an ultrasound.
One exception: light bleeding in the 48 hours following a gynecological exam. In this case, there is no reason to worry and no need to visit your doctor.
